Make sure all Korea-centric readers visit this site to nominate your favorite Korea blog! Some of my favorites are listed there, but unfortunately, some were not such as Korean Unification Studies, North Korean Economy Watch or One Free Korea. At any rate, the ones listed are very good such as Marmot’s Hole, ROK Drop, DPRK [...]

I encourage all to read this report from the Council on Foreign Relations. While not all may agree on this paper, it is still an interesting read.

I apologize for the lack of updates. I have been pretty busy these days, and have quite of bit of news and other goodies to post.
So much to do, so little time.
With that said, I got an interesting E-Mail from somebody regarding a podcast talking to the director of the documentary Kimjongilia. I really want [...]

It is yet another slow news day in North Korea, other than Kim Jong Il visiting a Chinese official (which proves Kim is not dead at least). So I decided to look around Google Images LIFE Magazine picture archives to see what I could find. I went nuts and tried to look for some interesting [...]

Two stories caught my eye today when browsing the news. One was regarding the asking of increased aid and the other was the supposed announcement about plutonium has been made into weapons. Now why would North Korea decide to announce the plutonium has been made into weapons-grade goodies yet look to the United States for [...]

From the AFP:
PARK CITY, Utah (AFP) — North Korea’s prison system and the cult of personality surrounding the Stalinist nation’s leader Kim Jong-Il are the subject of a documentary screening at the Sundance Film Festival.
Director NC Heikin’s film “Kimjongilia” — named after the hybrid red begonia created to honor the totalitarian state’s ruler — aims [...]

Update: NKEconWatch sent me a link outlining the known cadres in the leadership structure. It appears some of the departments are not known. This includes the Organization and Guidance Department. However, it does appear Jang Song Taek runs the Administrative Department. This is worth looking into a little further.
Original post: NKEconWatch’s link made me wonder; [...]

I saw this on One Free Korea, so make sure to take a look at that. I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard the news. Alas, the “excitement” died quickly. When considering the government of the DPRK, it is mired in mystery, and looking into the murky waters can only give shadows [...]

If things cannot get any stranger, it could have if this offer was accepted.
North Korea offered to send its chief nuclear negotiator to next week’s inauguration of US President-elect Barack Obama, but Washington has responded coolly, South Korean news reports said Monday.
It would be historical to say the least, but would be a political disaster [...]

Yes, it has been a slow news day in North Korea, and with that said, I might as well post some other stuff that may have nothing to do with North Korea.
On CNN, President-elect Barack Obama encouraged others to give a better idea on how to get the economy moving again (I cannot find it [...]
