Some interesting pictures on Google Images

It is yet another slow news day in North Korea, other than Kim Jong Il visiting a Chinese official (which proves Kim is not dead at least). So I decided to look around Google Images LIFE Magazine picture archives to see what I could find. I went nuts and tried to look for some interesting Cold War goodies. Yes. I am that bored.

Maybe some other stuff too. So here you have it, and enjoy yourself.

Korea

Red Premier Kim Il Sung (R fore) with group of uniformed Russian advisers. (November, 1950)

Russian housing at Kim Il Sung Univ. provided modern buildings for Communist faculty members. In forground are typical Korean huts. The univ. gave Korean youth the same indoctrination Russian students get. (November 1950) Hmm, Maybe KISU is in the background. All the same, it is pretty odd to see all the dirt when it was all replaced by cold concrete.

N. Korean Peoples Army Commander-in-Chief Kim Il Sung speaking, framed by portrait of Soviet ldr. Stalin. (1953) Kind of odd to see Stalin even though I do know Kim Il Sung was installed by Stalin, and followed Stalin. Later, as we all know, all traces of Stalin were gone and replaced with himself.

Col. James Murray, Jr., USMC, & Col. Chang Chun San, of North Korean Communist Army, initial maps showing north & south boundaries of demarcation zone, during Panmunjom cease fire talks. (Oct. 11, 1951)

Old Korean woman squatting down amid rubble, pausing in her search for salvageable materials in ruins of Seoul during Korean War. (November 1950)

China

US military observer E. F. Carlson (R) standing with Gen. Mao Tse Tung, leader of Chinese Communist resistance fighting against the invading Japanese forces in northern China. (1940)

Albania

Delegate Enver Hoxha of Albania addressing plenary session of UN-sponsored Foreign Ministers’ peace conf. (Oct. 10, 1946)

Soviet Union

Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin haranguing a crowd; fellow revolutionary Leon Trotsky can be seen standing beside the platform on the right looking out over the crowd. (1919)

The Big Three

(L-R) British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, US Pres. Truman, and Soviet Premier Josef Stalin atg opening of Potsdam Conference. (July 1945)

…and the list goes on and on. Some names that were not found like Nicolae Ceaușescu. Anyway, mabe you folks can find them.
